Are students guaranteed an internship place?

Internships involve a competitive process to which students must apply, be shortlisted for interview, attend an interview and be selected by the organisation as the successful candidate. The process of how to apply and when, is outlined under the Timelines heading below. Students who wish to self-source their own internship will first need to seek the approval of the Arts and Humanities Governing Board before the deadlines outlined in the self-sourced internships page. The documentation required for approval can be provided by the Internship & Employability Manager ((opens in a new window)artshumanities.internships@ucd.ie) and is also outlined in the student internship handbook available on Brightspace for stages 2 and 3 students.

Students who choose not to do an internship or are unsuccessful in securing an internship can continue to take modules for one or both trimesters, apply for a trimester or year abroad in a partner institution, or combine their stage 3 options in a number of different ways.
